On Monday January 15th, 2024 at 17:54 the Westwood Fire Company was dispatched to the 1800 block of Valley Road across street Eastern Avenue, in Valley Township, for an auto accident. MICU 44-1 and Tac 44 made an immediate response to this call.

Arriving within minutes, Chief McWilliams reported a 1 vehicle accident blocking the roadway. The roadway was covered in snow and the accident was located on a hill. Tac 44 went past the accident scene to stop oncoming traffic, diverting traffic onto Old Wilmington Road.

MICU 44-1 arrived and treated 1 trauma patient and later transported to a local trauma center. The vehicle collided with a wooden energy pole, causing damage to the transformer at the top which caused a brief power outage.

The Valley Township Police Department was on scene to investigate the accident and Fling's Towing removed the vehicle from the scene.
