Reported House Fire on Strode Avenue |

On Tuesday, September 21st, 2010 the Westwood Fire Company along with an Engine from Wagontown were dispatched at 1815 to the 400 block of Barlow Drive in Valley Township for a fire alarm activation. While units were responding to that call, the Chester County 911 Communications Center received a call that there was a reported house fire in the 300 block of Strode Avenue in Valley Township. The fire was reported in the kitchen. The County dispatched the second call adding the Modena Fire Company, Sadsburyville Fire Company and an Engine from the City of Coatesville Fire Department. Modena Lieutenant Brown, who lives in the area was first responder on scene and removed a burning pot from the kitchen. The fire caused a heavy smoke condition throughout the home. Chief Scott cleared from the previous call and responded along with Rescue 44. Chief 44 requested Wagontown Rescue 35 to also respond to the house fire. Assistant Chief Paulukinas of the City of Coatesville Fire Department arrived on scene and confirmed that the fire was out, with a smoke condition in the home. Crews quickly began ventilation upon arrival and disconnected the power to the home. Chief Scott established "Strode Avenue Command." After clearing the smoke and checking for any fire extension into the walls, all units were released at 1903. |
