On Saturday, August 28th, 2010 Westwood Ambulance was dispatched to assist the Modena Fire Company and Medic 93 for a reported ATV accident on Buck Run Road in East Fallowfield Township. Medic 93-1 and Medic 93-2 both made the response and with the initial information given by the Chester County 911 Center, immediately placed an air medical helicopter on standby. Chief 44 and Paramedics arrived on scene and advised that the patient condition warranted to fly the helicopter to the scene. Modena Chief Perine assumed the role as the landing zone officer and immediately made contact with Skycare 1, which was already in the area within minutes. Ambulance 44-1 along EMS Chief McWilliams in the EMS Command vehicle, as well as Modena Tac 37 and Traffic 37 all arrived on scene and personnel hiked equipment into the scene. One ATV ride lost control of their bike and took a hard fall. The rider was packaged on the bike trail and transported in the back of a Firefighter/EMT Meadowcroft's pick up truck to the awaiting Skycare 1 at the front of the property. The patient was transported by air to a local trauma center in Christiana, Delaware, which is the closest facility to the scene. Westwood EMS units cleared the scene at 1956. |
