House Fire on Front Street in Hayti

On Wednesday June 5th, 2024 at 17:12, the Westwood Fire Company and mutual aid from Sadsburyville, Wagontown and East Brandywine, were dispatched to the 900 block of Front Street in the Hayti section of Valley Township for a structure fire.

Engine 44-5 arrived first due engine at 17:20, confirmed a working fire and went in service with hose lines to begin extinguishing the exterior fire but was extending into the structure. Firefighters conducted a primary search of the residence to ensure all occupants had been evacuated.

A working fire dispatch was alerted bringing additional units from Modena, Westwood Paramedics and a Fire Marshal to the scene.

Chief McWilliams established the Front Street Command, Chief Taylor ran the command post and Deputy Chief Scott ran operations.

Additional firefighters arrived and these crews were assigned vertical and horizontal ventilation, suppression and salvage/overhaul.

The fire was placed under control at 17:33, just 13 minutes after the arrival of Engine 44-5. There were no injuries reported at the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
