By Assistant Fire Chief Randy Scott
September 17, 2012

On Sunday September 9th, 2012 the Chester County Department of Emergency Services held its dedication and Official opening of the new Chester County Public Safety Training Campus (CCPSTC) in South Coatesville Borough.

The event kicked off at 1300 hours at the new training facility. Many people behind the scenes and the ones noted for donations and support were on-site for this great moment.

The event was led by Director Ed Atkins of the Emergency Services for the County. The event was led by the Chester County Sheriff's Office Honor Guard along with CC Emerald Society Pipes and Drums Band.

Words of excitement and appreciation were spoken by South Coatesville Mayor Kennedy, CC Commissioners, State and Local Representatives. An Official ribbon cutting was conducted and the building was open to the guests and the public.

Tours were given along with discussion and a PowerPoint of the next three phases of the training center which are expected to be completed by 2014 year-end.

Many responders and people who were on site appreciated the hard work and dedication that led to this dedication.

One of the most important pieces of the new facility is the piece of steel that is represented in the main lobby of the training center. The steel is a piece of steel that came from the World Trade Center that was manufactured right here in Coatesville by Lukens Steel Company. The Steel represents the men and women that lost their life in 9-11-2001 all around the County as in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania.

As Senator Dinnamen stated that Steel represents a lot however the responders of Chester County need to represent that steel as staying united and becoming steel. ALL OF US WORKING TOGETHER FOR THE SAME GOAL, LIFE AND PROPERTY SAFETY IN CHESTER COUNTY.

Many Local Fire, Police and EMS were on-site and enjoying the celebration and company of one another.
